The Altar of Hate

Our Lord says to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us. Let it be so; in truth and action, amen. And we are to love like our Lord, because God is love. There are those who say that this love that we are commanded to have means to avoid embarrassing the invading hoards of barbarians. They say this love means appeasing the feminists, and the abominable homosexuals and transsexuals. I will say to them that yes, God is love, and we are commanded to love. But part of Love is discipline. And the root of discipline is Justice. And God is Just.
We know that God loves all men. And yet, when our Lord returns, there will be great and terrible Justice served to this fallen world. We know that God loves every soul and desires unity with each. And yet there awaits eternal Justice for those who deny God, eternal separation from our creator, our light and peace, the author of our souls.
God is Just.
There is no forgiveness of sins without repentance. This is the base line for God’s Justice. And therefore, as servants of God, men of love and compassion, we must also be Just.
Hand in hand with God’s love, our Lord hates. It is part of Justice, and therefore we must hate.

The Lord hates six things; in fact, seven are detestable to Him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that plots wicked schemes, feet eager to run to evil, a lying witness who gives false testimony, and one who stirs up trouble among brothers. – Proverbs 6:16-19

I would say to the appeaser, that we are to hate murderous barbarians, baby killers, and those who drop bombs on schools and hospitals. Why? Because our Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood.
I would say that we are to hate feminists, Communists, and advocates of perversion. Because our Lord hates a lying tongue, a heart that plots wicked schemes, and feet eager to run to evil.
And I would say to the appeaser that we are to hate them, too. Because our Lord hates those who give false testimony and stir up trouble among brothers.
There is no forgiveness of sins without repentance, and God is Just.

  1. I find it ironic that it would be okay to hate abortionists but yet do nothing to stop the shedding of innocent blood. What happened to George Tiller’s assassin.
9/11 – we should have sat around hating and waiting for the next attack?

  2. Do not forget that Jesus will return atop a white horse, bearing a sword, wearing a garment SOAKED IN BLOOD. “Nice Jesus” is not my God. God is love, and love protects the sheep from the wolves, with force if need be.
    Endure to the end, brother.

  3. Tradition puts Scripture into context. A hatred that “aims directly at the person, indulges a propensity to see what is evil and unlovable in him, feels a fierce satisfaction at anything tending to his discredit, and is keenly desirous that his lot may be an unmixedly hard one…” is always sinful. However, hatred that “in so far as it implies the reprobation of what is actually evil, is not a sin and may even represent a virtuous temper of soul.” This essentially means “love the sinner and hate the sin”. We hate the sin because we love the sinner. To love means to will the good of another and it is never good to sin, thus to love the abortionist means to stop him from murdering unborn babies. In short, we must hate abortion, communism, socialism, feminism, and barbarism, but love the abortionist, communist, socialist, and barbarian.

    • Turning the other cheek is for personal insults, not violent murderers.
Catholic canon, and the Bible, clearly state that violent defence is perfectly acceptable.
You go ahead and love the murdering Muslim.
I’ll say a prayer over his grave.

        • As far as i can tell, you said Love the sinner and hate the sin. Very well, I will come to understand the sinner, learn why he does what he does, grok closer to him, and I will love him and execute him without hatred.
I will not, however, forgive him as I tighten the noose. But with love, one cannot let the source of evil continue, even though that means he kicks out his life two inches from the ground.
When people define themselves by their sin, They have lost the right to any forgiveness but God’s. It is not our place to define or question HIS vengeance… but what we do is not vengeance, it is simple survival.

          • I don’t think I disagree with you. Love does not mean tolerance or acceptance, but willing what is actually good for another and it is never good to sin. Thus self-defense, Just War, defense of the innocent and proportional punishment (i.e justice, including capital punishment) is not hate nor is an inconsistent with loving the one being defended against or punished. In fact, it’s just the opposite. Willing that the sinner continue to sin is an act of inappropriate hatred as it is willing what is bad for another. Justice is an act of love. Praying for the sinner that he will repent is an intense act of love.

    • It is perfectly just to hate the sin, and not the sinner. You can kill the sinner without hate for him or her. We used to hand this power to civil authority, so that no individual would need to run the risk of hating the sinner. Now, with civil authority as steeped in sin as the worst criminal it will have to be taken back and exercised by just and hard men.
Just as it was right and just to nuke Nippon in WW2 or firebomb Dresden, so will it become just to do war upon the cultures that are anti-righteousness. The people that support a nation, culture, or religion that does war upon innocents are justly legitimate war targets.
This swings both ways, of course, but that’s the nature of Justice.
