I hope the health benefits of vitamin D eventually become common knowledge. I really hope more Americans and Westerners stop being fat and start being healthy.

If you haven’t started taking a vitamin D supplement, you should. Most Americans, and I assume most Westerners, do not have enough vitamin D in their body. Back in 2009, Scientific American reported that “Three-quarters of U.S. teens and adults are deficient in vitamin D.”

In 2017, The Harvard Gazette did a story that lead with, “A new global collaborative study has confirmed that vitamin D supplementation can help protect against acute respiratory infections. The study, a participant data meta-analysis of 25 randomized controlled trials including more than 11,000 participants, has been published online in The BMJ.”

In 2018, HealthLine did a story about the signs and symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency.

Here are 7 common risk factors for vitamin D deficiency:

1. Having dark skin.
2. Being elderly.
3. Being overweight or obese.
4. Not eating much fish or dairy.
5. Living far from the equator where there is little sun year-round.
6. Always using sunscreen when going out.
7. Staying indoors.

Here are 8 signs and symptoms of vitamin D deficiency.

1. Getting Sick or Infected Often
2. Fatigue and Tiredness
3. Bone and Back Pain
4. Depression
5. Impaired Wound Healing
6. Bone Loss
7. Hair Loss
8. Muscle Pain

When I was looking up some info about vitamin D on Infogalactic, I discovered something I didn’t know. Vitamin D is responsible for enhancing intestinal absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphate, and wait for it …. wait for it … ZINC.

Zinc helps fight common colds, Vitamin D helps your body absorb Zinc. So vitamin D plus zinc really helps boost your immune system. Add a Zinc supplement to your Vitamin D supplement while you’re at it.

I personally take ProOmega 2000-D and Pure Encapsulations Zinc 30. My family survived the COVID-19.

I’m sure there are plenty of good supplements out there. If you’re not sure what to take, find a functional medicine doctor in your area and schedule an appointment.

There is plenty of evidence suggesting that you are probably vitamin d deficient, and vitamin D and other minerals like zinc will make you and your immune system healthier. Even NPR says taking zinc can help with colds, and vitamin D helps your body absorb zinc.

Order some now and start taking them when they arrive. Don’t wait until you’re to try to get healthy.
