Centralization is the problem

I’ve been listening to Russell Brand for a while now, and I generally enjoy his takes and humor. He makes me laugh, and we all need that.

In this video, he mentions a fundamental flaw of society – CENTRALIZATION. Centralization of power in the State or Business is a big cause of many problems in Human Society. That’s it. Period.

Why is it a problem? Because centralization amplifies sin.

Man is not perfect. We all sin. Some men may be less sinful and more generous than others, but we are all flawed and fall short of the glory of God. There is a certain type of man who is drawn to power and control, and centralization puts more and more power into the hands of those men. This happens with centralized Government and Corporations, and both are bad.

Brand leans left, but he seems to be honest. He believes humans are affecting the climate, but he also points out that 100 companies emit 71% of all global emissions. He shares that the richest 1% of the global population use twice as much carbon as the poorest 50%. He says that if people really wanted to help the climate, we’d be talking to those companies and the 1% flying around on private jets, not forcing an agenda or ordinary people.

Check out the video below. It’s worth the watch.

What we need is DECENTRALIZATION. We need decentralized government, decentralized business, decentralized control, decentralized force. Local government is the best government. Local business is the best business. Decentralization won’t fix everything, of course, but it will be better.

Some people will ask, “How can we ever achieve X, Y, or Z without Big Government and Big Business? You have to have lots of money, and lots of control to do certain things!” Well, maybe we don’t really need X, Y, or Z. Or, maybe we can all agree to give lots of money to a particular organization to achieve a certain goal.

What we don’t need is BigGov and BigBiz blaming and shaming average people for all the ills of the world, while they are observably the primary cause of war and strife and depression.

If we want to live in peace, we must “slay” the giants.

  1. Absolutely.

There was a great Orthodox priest who said that the most ridiculous part of the “apologize culture” was that those Elit men most guilty of actually murdering and raping and causing utter destruction act like you should apologize for something they did.

    Your article is great.
