Men of the West Supports Gun Control

After much deliberation, discussion, and maybe a few fist fights, we here at Men of the West have decided that we are strict supporters of gun control. This might surprise you, but please read on and feel free to leave comments if you disagree.

Gun Control Means:

…having a good stance and a good grip. This helps you maintain control of your weapon at all times. Practice different stances because there are different situations in which you might be called on to use your God given right to defend yourself.

Gun Control Means:

…practice, practice, practice. This idea should be with you at all times. Practice at the range. Practice in a tactical bay. Get some snap caps and practice at home. Practice drawing, practice aiming, practice with friends and family. Don’t think you know it all, be open to instruction and improvement. Build that muscle memory so you don’t fumble when you might be called upon to defend yourself, your family or your property from the godless heathens lurking about.

Gun Control Means:

Keep your gun(s) in good working order. Sure, they might fire if they’re a little rusty, dusty or worn, but do you really want to take that chance? Regular cleaning and inspections not only keep your firearms in good working order, you become familiar with them on a deeper level and if something does go wrong when the communist hordes are advancing, you’ll know how to take care of it.

Gun Control Means:

…situational awareness. Always be aware of your surroundings. We can’t all be on our guard 100% of the time, but when you’re out in public train yourself to look for threats. It takes a conscious effort but after awhile it will become automatic. That way, if you ever have to draw your weapon in public you’ll already be aware of your environment and who’s around before you sling lead at a soon to be ex-criminal.

Gun Control Means:

…keeping a cool head. Anger has no place in gun fight. Keep a cool head, put your emotions aside and concentrate on the task at hand. DON’T FREAK OUT. That’s harder for some to get under control than others. But if you’re panicky or overly emotional (anger, fear, etc) you’re not going to make good decisions and you’ll be an easier target for the scumbags trying to put you down.

Gun Control Means:

…teaching your kids firearms safety. If you teach your kids about firearms starting when their little, it will take away a lot of the mystery and they’re far less likely to try to mess with them on the sly when you’re not around. And when they’re old enough, teach them to actually shoot. There are quite a few stories out there of younger kids defending their homes and families from murderous swine with firearms when their parents were unable to for some reason.

Gun Control Means:

…having good trigger discipline. “Keep your booger hook off the bang switch,” as you’ve probably heard. In a recent viral video, a woman racks the slide of a pistol in a car with two other people in it and she had her finger on the trigger and shot her friend in the head. Don’t put your finger on the trigger until you’re ready to fire. PERIOD. Don’t be like the infamous gun grabbing Communist, Dianne Feinstein.

Gun Control Means:

…knowing that sometimes, violence is the answer. Sometimes, to ensure the safety of innocents, you have to use violence so be prepared as much as possible. Also know when violence is not the answer. There are times when it’s best to just clear out; you have to know when NOT to pull the trigger on some deserving felon also.

Gun Control Means:

…knowing how many rounds you have until you’re empty. You don’t want the dreaded ‘click’ sound when you need it the most. Maybe you’re not carrying that extra mag that day or it’s otherwise inaccessible. Don’t get caught short on ammo when someone needs to be fast-tracked to judgement day.

Gun Control Means:

…choosing the right gun for the right situation. You don’t want to pull out your S&W .44 Magnum and start blasting away at some nimble home invader that was just starting to get his life together as he runs through your home so he can escape and go to college. No, you need something appropriate for in-home defense. Shotguns are great for home defense even though  you might end up with some repair bills. There are lots of different types of firearms and it’s good to have variety to choose from depending on the situation.
There are many other gun control measures that Men of the West endorses, but we’ll leave it at that for now. If all of this is new to you, get educated. Find a friend that knows this stuff better and start training.
