The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom,
And before honor is humility.
– Proverbs 15:33
Let us praise famous men, and our fathers that begat us. All these men were honoured in their generations, and were a glory in their days.
– Chariots of Fire
Another birthday has passed for all of us. Mine was recently. Another year. Another season of met or lost goals. So as I reflected, I revisited Chariots of Fire for inspiration. For a reset. To be reinvigorated for the battle against the evil in our time. And to simply be a better husband and father in my time.
Our battle is spiritual, but the manifestations of that battle have been felt in real ways. Our enemies have attacked us relentlessly. Their loss of faith, their greed, their selfishness, their pride, their condescension, were arrows pointed at the heart to convince us to turn away from our Heavenly Father who loves us.
Memorial Day is also a time to reflect on those who went before us. I understand we can overemphasize their heroic actions while ignoring harsh realities. But I choose to see the best in them. I choose to follow the best behavior, not the temporary setbacks they had. They gave us a gift but it has been squandered…for a time. That time is ending.
Now it is time to fight and pray again. I know things have changed. The untoward, the depraved, the dishonorable, the vile pragmatists have been lifted to prominence through their own guile, deceit, and theft of the Good, the Beautiful, and the True. Their rule is ending. Call it Clown World or any number of appellations – they are the embodiment of Evil in our time. Their Impostor Syndrome is going to be revealed when the true sons and daughters of God inherit the kingdom prepared for them from the foundation of the world.
Whatever time is left to me, whatever resources, whatever health, whatever mental acuity, whatever opportunity or sliver of passion is available, I will direct towards raising Wolves and Warriors in my children. My daughters and my sons will carry the name of the Holy One who has thus far blessed my efforts with success, even if the road has been rocky and fraught with danger. I will teach them to speak the truth. I will teach them to perform His will in their lives and to enforce the will of God when asked.
For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.
– Matthew 12:50
This is our family. And this family we will serve and protect against the enemies of God. We are to live and walk honorably, for the sake of our ancestors who paved the way before us. For the sake of the departed saints, many of them martyred for their faith. For the sake of our descendants who will look to us to shine the light in our own time and inspire them to carry the torch forward.
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
– Hebrews 13:1-2
Be encouraged in your walk today. There are many thousands of others on this path with you. Some are here at MOTW. Remember those who sacrificed. Pay little heed to the ways of this world and their wicked ways. Don’t strive after trophies that will be trashed. Know that God is the one giving out the medals.
This is not about politics. Rifleman said this in a March 2nd, 2025 post: “We do not need a $7 trillion/year federal budget. We don’t need it because we are about family and community, not institutions and organizations.” I promise you: if we will build families and parallel communities and organizations, we will win. We’re already winning.

Also well said. I still have my shirt with that phrase in Latin proudly printed upon it.
