What a great story. It makes you doubt your knowledge of the South Pole. Maybe there IS something out there that we have not found yet at the South Pole.
Any way a wonderful story to read and hear in audio. Plus the various pictures are just as wonderful as the story.

Isn’t lovecraft like the exact opposite of a “man of the west”.
An author who sucked so bad he couldn’t even provide for himself and wrote evolutionary godless cultic horror weirdness?
Maybe i’m wrong so i’ll let you help me.
I just remember my weird, cheating on his wife, divorced loser uncle always liking his stuff and saying how cool Cthulu (however you spell it) was that he would just kill everyone (which didn’t sound cool to me).
Is it not that?
Lovecraft is absolutely a man of the West by blood and culture, and is justly esteemed one of its finest writers. His interests ranged well beyond the horror genre. See his short essay on Roman literature:
