Wake Up

In the Netflix series Daredevil, the main bad guy in Season One, Wilson Fisk, drops a truth bomb on one of the other characters. You can watch it here. The important part, for this post, starts at about 1:50 and goes to the end of the clip. Go ahead and watch it.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Wilson Fisk is a bad guy. He does evil things, but in this clip, he is dead on correct. There was a time when truth mattered to people. Even advertisements of yesteryear had depth, unlike the moronic pablum that makes up the majority of modern ads. Just compare this modern ad to an older one:

Without even reading the old one, you can see a difference. The new ad is focused on selling you a product based upon how “pretty” the product is. There is no real argument or facts. Just “hey, this is a great mower, so you should get it.” The old ad actually tries to convince you that it is a worthy product.
The same principle is true in other areas of our lives. How many people do you know that act exactly like the people that Fisk describes in the video clip? They get worked up about celebrity weddings and cat videos. They are not concerned with deeper truths of the reality that surrounds us. They simply want to grasp the latest shiny bauble, until something better comes along.
Men of the West, we cannot be like that. We must focus on truth. We need to know what is right, why it is right, and how we can promote it. Do not waste your time with nonsensical idiocy. Rather, apply yourself to things that matter.
Learn to grow (and can) your own food. Take the responsiblity to improve your fitness and health. Pay attention to politics and get involved when appropriate. Get up and go to church. Share your knowledge with your neighbors. Many of them are lost in a sea of nonsense, but you can be the one who brings them out of that.
In short, wake your ass up. Stop tweeting or forwarding stupidity. Ignore that crap. When I see an article that mentions some celebrity who hate Trump, I don’t even read it. Who cares what some Hollywood actor thinks about politics. I care much more what the local farmers think. Stop wasting time on things that do not matter. Apply yourself to the things that do.
We will all be better off for it.
